  Star Treatment: Creating the Look

In the world of fashion, fall is truly the season by which the others are measured. Certainly, with its rich colors and lush textures, this season need not search outside itself for inspiration. In the makeup world, trend makers pay tribute to natural beauty, a look perfectly achieved with mineral makeup. This fall, Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics has created a rich palette of soft pinks, coppers and golds to enhance and highlight natural features. We asked Lauren Pass, a stylist and educator with Being In L.A. Wellness Center in Los Angeles, for some ways to create a flawless fall face with a combination of Jane Iredale’s newest and best-established products.

1) Establish a palette.
For multitasking, Hess turns to Sunbeam, a quad of shades for cheeks and eyes that features a soft pink, rouge, gold and bronze-copper. She either uses the bronzer and blusher individually to create a softer look, or blends all four shades to create a glowing quartet.

2) Optimize eyes.
For unforgettable eyes, Hess calls upon Plum Plus Cream-to-Powder Eyeliners and blends the purples and rich metallics. She chooses a darker shade to use as a shadow and then diffuses the shade by lightening it as her brush sweeps closer to the client’s brow. A smoky eye is achieved when she applies the darker shade closer to the eyelash line, then uses the lightest color over it for a highlight accent. “Anybody can wear it as long as it’s done in moderation,” Hess says. To take it a step further with a dramatic evening look, Hess goes with Copper Liquid Eyeliner, a hot metallic shade that shapes and defines to create sexy, smoldering eyes.

3) Encourage a glow.
To flaunt healthy skin, Hess chooses one of three shades of Iredale’s In Touch Cream Stick Blush, with a texture that leaves a slight refreshing tingle on the cheeks. “Plus, the cocoa powder scent makes these blushes so edible!” she laughs.

4) Pamper lips.
Teaching clients to protect lips is crucial during windy, dry weather, so Hess treats them with the dual-sided Sugar&Butter Lip Duo, a lip exfoliant containing beeswax and organic brown sugar, and a lip plumper that leaves a glowing pink tint to offset metallic shadows and dewy cheeks.

5) Apply a finishing touch.
To complete this perfect face for fall, Hess sets the mineral powders with Jane Iredale Facial Spray. For clients with drier skin, she uses D20 Hydration Spray, a refreshing and hydrating blend of ylang ylang, seaweed, chamomile and other natural extracts. She also uses the pomegranate-infused Pommist on clients with combination and sensitive skin. “The sprays pop the color back into the minerals,” Hess says. “With these mists you don’t actually have to reapply makeup for evening.”
