Standard mileage deduction rates will increase from 48.5 cents to 50.5 cents per mile for business miles driven beginning January 1, 2008, the Internal Revenue Service announced. The standard mileage rate for service to charitable organizations will remain the same at 14 cents per mile. For more information about standard mileage rates, visit www.irs.gov.

The Iatria Day Spa (iatria.com) chain in North Carolina has been recognized by Inc. magazine as one of America’s fastest-growing private companies, announced Iatria president Erika Mangrum. A list of companies previously known as “The Inc. 500” has been expanded to “The Inc. 5,000.” The companies are chosen for the list based on revenue growth.
The 19th Annual Contessa Awards honoring Canada’s top beauty professionals were presented on November 4 at a gala in Toronto. The four panels of industry expert judges had a daunting job, selecting 15 national and 6 region-specific prizewinners, plus a community service award winner, from hundreds of entries. However, by the evening of the gala, they’d chosen winning beauty professionals in the categories of hair, makeup, nails, salon interior design and community service.
